    PLAYER: Tayte Crable

    POSITION: Tight end

    YEAR: Freshman

    HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'5”, 215 lbs.

HOW DID HE GET HERE? It’s always fun when USF brings in players from states far away from Florida. Crable went to high school at Archbishop Hoban in Akron, right in the heart of MAC country. Fittingly, most of his offers were from MAC schools, and he actually committed to Toledo last summer before flipping to USF when they offered in October. He ended up signing in December and enrolling early. Crable was rated as a low three-star prospect by the recruiting services.

Fun fact! Crable’s father, Shawn, was a very impressive linebacker for Michigan. In fact, Shawn finished second in the nation in tackles for loss in 2007. Do you remember who finished first?

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? Like fellow incoming freshman Brandon Kubay, who we’ve already covered, I don’t expect Crable to see much playing time in a crowded tight end room. A redshirt year to put on some weight seems very possible. But keep an eye on these two freshmen. If either - or both - manages to see the field early, even on special teams, it might indicate that USF sees a bright future for them.
