Stampeding Through the 2025 USF Football Roster: #16 S Jeremiah Jones

PLAYER: Jeremiah Jones

POSITION: Safety

YEAR: Freshman

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6’0”, 185 lbs.

HOW DID HE GET HERE? From nearby Sumner High School in Riverview, where he was rated a mid-three-star prospect. During his senior season he played safety, but he also threw two passes, caught two passes (presumably not the same passes), ran for 128 yards, and returned kicks and punts. Pretty impressive, but I have written 63 Stampeding Through the 2025 USF Football Roster entries, so who really has the more impressive stats? Please do not answer that!

Anyway, Jones also had offers from Marshall and FCS Tennessee Tech. USF was interested for a good bit last summer and officially offered him on his official visit in June. He promptly committed, and both signed and enrolled early.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? Alex Golesh mentioned during spring ball that Jones had been impressing him - and if you get a shoutout from Alex Golesh, I pay attention, especially if you’re a true freshman. I’ve mentioned elsewhere that I think that USF’s two-deep at safety is pretty locked in at the moment, but USF had about six safeties last year that I would describe as “in the rotation.” There’s a lot of competition, but Jones has a shot at being among that six.
