Stampeding Through the 2025 USF Football Roster: #33 EDGE Ashton Mosley
We met our first B-backer yesterday; let's meet our second.
PLAYER: Ashton Mosley
POSITION: B-backer
YEAR: Redshirt freshman
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'3", 230 lbs.
HOW DID HE GET HERE? From Blountstown High School in Blountstown, Florida, where he was a pass rushing specialist and was rated a mid-three-star prospect. He received offers from a few mid-major programs (WKU, FAU, UAB, and Troy) in addition to the Bulls. He committed to USF in June 2023, signed on early signing day and enrolled early in the spring semester.
HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON? Mosley played in each of the Bulls’ first four games, then was shut down for the season until the Hawaii Bowl to preserve his redshirt year. Most of his playing time came in the season opener against Bethune-Cookman, but he saw some late snaps in the Southern Miss and Miami games, and played a bit on special teams against Bama.
Mosley finished the season with four tackles and 0.5 TFLs.
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? I think Mosley is probably still a year or so away from seeing significant snaps. USF returns both Rico Watson and D.J. Harris at B-backer this season, and Ira Singleton saw plenty of playing time at the position last season as well. That said, Mosley’s bulked up quite a bit - he was listed at 207 pounds on his recruiting profile, and is now listed at 230 - and along with Singleton, could be the future at the position. We’ll see if he can make a push for more playing time this fall.
