USF vs. Kent State Haiku
We had to be here on Homecoming. We hope you didn’t.
The score might fool you
But don’t think this was OK
The numbers do lie
What can’t be underestimated is how poorly Kent State executed in this game. They got one of the worst breaks you’ll ever see on a football field, having a legal touchdown blown dead by forward progress, then conceding a 97-yard scoop-and-score on the next play.
USF comfortably controlled the fourth quarter after the Golden Flashes did the right thing and played to win, but also leaving themselves in terrible positions. They turned it over on downs four times, missed a field goal, and again the scoop-score was just insane.
USF had three (3) yards rushing at halftime against the 132nd best team in FBS football out of 138. They were outgained 197-101 at halftime, and allowed 6-11 first downs before intermission. It was a nightmare, and the third quarter wasn’t much better.
So ignore what might be the ugliest point spread cover in program history. USF cannot come back from their bye week looking like the same football team we saw tonight.
More to come from Ray Jay later.
