### USF Weekly Honors

Conference Honors will probably move very slowly as we approach a quiet, basketball only part of the athletics calendar:

- Vittoria Blasigh was named AAC Freshman of the Week for USF women’s basketball.
- Selton Miguel was named to the AAC Weekly Honor roll for USF men’s basketball.

### USF Women’s Basketball: Sammie’s No Longer Back

**Devastating News:** Prior to their show down with #3 NC State on Saturday, USF women’s basketball received horrible news. After a return from her injury against Gardner Webb last week, star guard Sammie Puisis suffered a torn ACL during practice, ending her season.

- With the news, USF women’s basketball will have to continue to rely on their young and inexperienced collection of guards, there’s no shortage of talent in that group, but Sammie’s ability to score and versatility in the line up will surely be missed.

**Battled the Pack:** In what feels like a familiar match up, USF welcomed the undefeated #3 NC State to the Yuengling Center on Saturday night. The Wolfpack would end up victorious once again by a score of 66-54, dropping USF to 7-4 on the season.

NC State held a slight advantage after the 1st quarter, leading 22-16, with the Bulls battling alongside a top tier opponent. The game was tied early in the 2nd at 22 points all, but NC State would go on a 14-2 run over the next five minutes to extend their lead and hold onto it for the rest of the game.

Romi Levy would go for a season high 11 points, followed by Carla Brito with 10 points. Evelien Lutje Schipholt collected a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her 8 points. The Bulls played aggressive defense, forcing 11 NC State turnovers, but the Wolfpack shot 50% from the field and nearly doubled up on the Bulls with a 42-28 rebounding advantage.

**Look Ahead:** The Bulls will head to the West Palm Classic for two match ups prior to Christmas break. Up first is IUPUI on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 PM, followed up by a match against #10 Baylor on Thursday at 3:30 PM.

### USF Men’s Basketball: Officially a Streak

**One-Hundo:** USF men’s basketball, fresh off their stunning victory over FSU at the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic, welcomed Arkansas Pine-Bluff to the YC on Tuesday night. The Bulls offense exploded for over a hundred points for the first time since 2010, defeating the Golden Lions 104-86.

USF has six different players score in double figures:

- Kasean Pryor, career high 19 points, 6 rebounds
- Kobe Knox, best in a USF uniform 18 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds
- Jayden Reid, career high 16 points, 8 assists
- Sam Hines Jr, season high 16 points, 8 rebounds
- Chris Youngblood, 11 points
- Selton Miguel, 14 points off the bench

USF excelled and went wire-to-wire in their victory, hitting 53% from the field, out-rebounded the Golden Lions 37-28, lead by Sam Hines and Brandon Stroud who collected eight a piece. This rebounding advantage helped gain 22 second chance points. They also hit 76% from the charity stripe (22-29) and added 10 triples on the evening to improve their record back to .500 on the season.

**Stifled Cinderella:** USF matched up against Loyola Chicago (the same Sister Jean, Cinderella NCAA tournament program) on Saturday afternoon, with the Bulls erasing an early deficit to win 77-64.

Despite trailing by 3 at halftime, the Bulls used an electric second half to down the Ramblers thanks to a season-high 21 points from Selton Miguel off the bench. Jayden Reid, Sam Hines Jr, and Chris Youngblood found double-digit scoring in back-to-back games as well.

The Bulls found success once again from beyond the arc, hitting 8-19 from 3 point land, while shooting an efficient 65% from free throws. The major turning point for the game was to start the second half, with the Bulls trailing 38-35, they used a quick 7-0 run coupled with turnovers and timely shooting to take the lead they wouldn’t come close to giving up the rest of the game. USF forced 14 turnovers from the Ramblers, including 8 steals to keep Loyola at bay.

**Look Ahead:** USF will take on Albany at home, Friday at 2 p.m. before a full week off for Christmas Break.
