    PLAYER: Brandon Kubay

    POSITION: Tight end

    YEAR: Freshman

    HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'3", 225 lbs.

HOW DID HE GET HERE? Kubay’s been all over the map. He’s actually a Canada native - Winnipeg, to be particular - but moved to Florida in 2023 and played a year of high school ball at Clearwater Academy International. His 2023 season put him on the radar of a handful of mid-major programs, and offers started rolling in in the spring. USF offered in May 2024, and he got his biggest offer of the bunch the next month when Virginia Tech came calling.

He moved north one last time to play his senior year of high school at St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, but mentioned that Florida felt like home. He settled on a top three of the Hokies, USF, and James Madison, but ended up committing to the Bulls later in June and never wavered, making it official on early signing day and enrolling early. The recruiting services gave him a solid mid-three star rating.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? The Bulls have a lot of seasoned options at tight end. The room is so jam-packed that it honestly wouldn’t be a stunner if one of the bunch moved on before the fall, but at the moment it consists of Wyatt Sullivan, an FAU transfer who caught 13 balls for them in 2024 and impressed in the spring, Weston Wolff, who started for the Bulls in 2023 before an injury wiped out most of his 2024 season, Evan Dangler, a walk-on who saw significant playing time last season as a predominantly blocking option, Jonathan Echols, a former blue-chip recruit who was a massive recruiting coup for Alex Golesh, plus Kubay and fellow incoming freshman Tayte Crable. That’s a tough depth chart for a freshman to climb. Expecting significant playing time in 2025 seems ambitious, but Kubay is a promising prospect for the future.
