**PLAYER:** Kajuan Banks

**POSITION:** Cornerback

**YEAR:** Senior

**HEIGHT/WEIGHT:** 5’10", 188 lbs.

**HOW DID HE GET HERE?** Banks was a high three-star prospect from Godby High School in Tallahassee and ended up committing to South Carolina over a handful of other impressive offers, including Tennessee and Ole Miss. He worked his way into the rotation early with the Gamecocks, appearing on the two-deep at corner as a true freshman and seeing playing time in all 13 games. As a sophomore in 2023, he appeared in 12 games in rotational and special teams work, racking up eight tackles and his first college interception in the opener against UNC.

He entered the transfer portal at the end of the 2023 season and committed to USF in January 2024.

**HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON?** He earned a starting job at nickelback and played there all season, appearing in all 13 of USF’s games and starting 10 of them. The nickelback position in USF’s defense involves a good deal of pass rushing responsibilities; fittingly, Banks led all Bulls defensive backs in blitzes, per PFF. He really made his mark early in the season in the Alabama game, racking up five tackles, 1.5 TFL, and a sack. You can see an impressive blitz where he forces Jalen Milroe into an intentional grounding penalty at 3:17 in the video below.

He finished the season with 30 tackles, three TFLs, and two sacks.

**WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025?** Banks played almost exclusively as a slot corner in 2024, and I think it’s safe to assume he’ll be the first man up at that position in 2025 as well. I’m not sure that any starting jobs in the secondary are written in ink - for instance, junior Jarvis Lee was impressive as Banks’ backup last season and could have a bigger role this season - but Banks will certainly be a big contributor in some capacity.

Fun fact: Banks went to the same high school as De’Shawn Rucker, and the two of them are [roommates and extremely good buds](https://www.tampafp.com/no-odd-couple-usfs-deshawn-rucker-and-kajuan-banks-are-fast-friends/?ref=bayareaexaminer.com).
