**PLAYER:** Deylen Platt

**POSITION:** Cornerback

**YEAR:** Redshirt freshman

**HEIGHT/WEIGHT:** 6'3", 180 lbs.

**HOW DID HE GET HERE?** A mid-to-high three star prospect from Venice High School, Platt racked up an impressive offer sheet. In the summer of 2023, before his senior season, he released a top six that included four power conference programs and USF, plus whatever Oregon State currently is. These weren’t courtesy offers, either - Platt took official visits over the summer to Ole Miss and Illinois, along with the Bulls.

But in a very impressive add for Alex Golesh and company, Platt ended up committing to USF in September. He signed on the traditional signing day in February and enrolled in the fall.

**HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON?** Platt clearly impressed the staff during fall camp, as he was one of only a few true freshmen to show up on the preseason depth chart (he was listed as a third-string corner). He saw a lot of action in the season opener against Bethune-Cookman and mostly played on special teams from there, but he did play a few snaps at corner in the UAB game. He ended up appearing in four games plus the Hawaii Bowl - preserving his redshirt season - and finished with one tackle.

**WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025?** His playing time as a true freshman was modest, but I’m pretty bullish about Platt’s future. His recruiting pedigree and early appearances on the depth chart suggest that USF might have a talented young player on their hands. I don’t think he’ll see a ton of action *this* season, as the Bulls return a handful of impressive players at corner, but it wouldn’t shock me if he worked himself into the rotation.
