    PLAYER: Izaiah Guy

    POSITION: Cornerback

    YEAR: Redshirt junior

    HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'2", 200 lbs.

HOW DID HE GET HERE? Guy was a Florida man originally, playing at Vanguard High in Ocala and earning low three-star marks. His offer list included a bunch of solid mid-major programs as well as Ole Miss. He ended up committing to Georgia State and enrolled for the 2022 season, but he redshirted and didn’t see any action.

His playing time spiked in 2023, and from then on, he was an important piece of the Panthers’ secondary. In his two years of playing time in Atlanta, he played in 22 games and started 11. He played pretty much exclusively as a wide cornerback.

Guy entered the transfer portal this past spring and committed to USF within ten days. Some pretty impressive schools were in touch with him.

HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON? The most productive of his college career so far. Guy became a full-time starter for the Panthers in 2024, and fittingly posted career highs in snaps, tackles, and passes defended. He finished the season with 30 tackles.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? De’Shawn Rucker has one of the Bulls’ two wide corner spots locked down, while Kajuan Banks and Jarvis Lee will likely be battling for the nickelback spot. That leaves one spot open - formerly occupied by Brent Austin, who is now playing for Cal. Guy is one of a few players who I see competing for that role, though I suspect that returners like James Chenault and Ben Knox have the inside track. I do expect him to be a member of the rotation and to play a healthy amount of snaps; we’ll see if he can do even more than that.
