Stampeding Through the 2025 USF Football Roster: #36 LB DeAngelo Bowden
Today we preview another true freshman fall enrollee.
PLAYER: DeAngelo Bowden
POSITION: Linebacker
YEAR: Freshman
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6’0”, 218 lbs.
HOW DID HE GET HERE? The Bulls went to the nation’s capital to bring in Bowden. He played at St. Johns College High School in Washington, DC, where he pulled in offers from a handful of northeastern-adjacent schools like Pitt, Temple, and UConn, along with an impressive Arkansas offer. USF offered him in May 2024, before his senior season, and he visited campus in July and committed shortly thereafter, continuing the trend of people from the north visiting Tampa and immediately moving there.
The recruiting services gave Bowden the USF Special - a mid three-star rating.
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? USF’s linebacker room is pretty locked in as far as the two-deep goes. Mac Harris and Jhalyn Shuler are the obvious starters, while senior transfers Chavez Brown and Rocco Nicholl are both impressive and experienced depth pieces. Add in promising underclassmen in Rodney Hill and Zavier Hamilton, and the pickings may be slim for incoming freshmen. But the top three or four names on the depth chart figure to all be seniors, so if Bowden can get some playing time this season in late-game duty or on special teams, he could be in line for a big 2026.
