    PLAYER: Chas Nimrod

    POSITION: Wide receiver

    YEAR: Redshirt junior

    HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6’2”, 198 lbs.

HOW DID HE GET HERE? Nimrod went to high school in Bentonville, Arkansas, right nearby the borders with Missouri and Oklahoma. He was a high three-star recruit with offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Arkansas, and a handful of other schools. He chose the Vols, and enrolled in 2022. Fun fact! His main recruiters at Tennessee were Alex Golesh and new Bulls co-offensive coordinator Kodi Burns.

Nimrod played in a couple games in 2022, but didn’t record any stats and redshirted. In 2023, he started seeing some significant playing time after injuries struck the Vols’ receiving corps midseason. He played in all 13 games and started five, including Tennessee’s last three games of the season. On the season, he finished with 19 catches for 194 yards and a touchdown, which was a 39-yarder against Kentucky where he absolutely blew by the corner. Check it out at 5:14 below.

As Tennessee got healthier in 2024, Nimrod’s playing time subsided a bit, but he still saw regular action. He entered the transfer portal after the regular season ended and reportedly received some interest from Illinois, but elected to reunite with Golesh and committed to the Bulls in January.

Of note: Nimrod played mostly out wide in 2023, but spent most of his time in the slot in 2024. Per PFF, he saw the fifth-most snaps among Tennessee receivers last season.

HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON? He was a consistent part of the rotation once again, appearing in 12 games and starting one. Nimrod ended the season with 10 catches for 121 yards, a modest step back from his 2023 numbers.

SPOT ON WEEK ONE DEPTH CHART: Nimrod is listed as a co-starter at one of the three wide receiver positions, as an “OR” with Jey’Quan Smith.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? When USF brings in a transfer with starting experience at a CFP-level SEC team, I pay attention. When that transfer is familiar with Alex Golesh’s offense, I pay even more attention. Nimrod was a big offseason addition and was one of the favorites to lead the line at receiver. That said, he’s been a bit banged up during fall camp, so it’s worth keeping an eye on his health as we approach kickoff.
