**PLAYER:** Jaden Alexis

**POSITION:** Wide receiver

**YEAR:** Redshirt junior

**HEIGHT/WEIGHT:** 5’10", 190 lbs.

**HOW DID HE GET HERE?** An explosive receiver from Monarch High School in Pompano Beach, Alexis was a low four-star prospect and committed to Texas over offers from pretty much half the country, including Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in fall camp as a true freshman. He did appear in the Longhorns’ 2022 season opener, but didn’t register any stats and entered the transfer portal after spring practice in 2023.

He committed to the Bulls in April 2023 and entered the mix at receiver pretty quickly. His speed and big-play potential were clear from the jump, but the Bulls just couldn’t get him the ball early on. His first explosive play of the season finally came in the third quarter of a tie game against Navy, when he took a bubble screen for 35 yards (3:18 in the highlight reel below).

From there on out, Alexis was a key part of the receiver corps and even started the last four games of the season. His biggest play of the year came in the regular season finale against Charlotte, when he got behind the secondary and evaded a few tacklers for a 60-yard touchdown that broke the game open and went a long way towards clinching USF’s first bowl bid since 2018 (4:22 in this video).

Alexis finished with 23 catches for 280 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He played in all 13 of the Bulls’ games in 2023, starting five.

**HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON?** Unfortunately, the offseason injury bug bit him again. Alexis once again suffered a season-ending knee injury, this time in the spring. He spent the season rehabbing and didn’t get to play.

**WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025?** I really loved watching Alexis play in 2023\. Once he got his feet under him, he was consistently one of the Bulls’ more explosive downfield threats. I was hoping for big things from him in 2024 before his injury, and felt like his absence (and that of Naiem Simmons) was pretty noticeable as the Bulls struggled to move the ball through the air early in the season.

That said… two season-ending knee injuries is really tough. I often worry about how players will bounce back after one season-ending injury, let alone two - there’s just no guarantee that they’ll be able to keep the same speed and explosiveness. If Alexis is fully healthy and functioning at 100%, he could be a really big boost to the Bulls’ offense. He was starting out wide at the end of 2023 season, and could conceivably slot right back into that position and give the Bulls some gamebreaking ability that they lacked in the passing game last season. But I just don’t know if it’s fair to expect that. Either way, USF fans should all be rooting for him.
