Stampeding Through the 2025 USF Football Roster: #30 LB DJ McCormick Jr.
Today's player is a freshman transfer looking to add depth to the linebacker corps.
PLAYER: DJ McCormick Jr.
POSITION: Linebacker
YEAR: Redshirt freshman
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'1", 214 lbs.
HOW DID HE GET HERE? We welcome any players who transfer across I-4 with open arms. McCormick was a mid three-star prospect out of Rockledge High School and had a solid offer list including power conference programs like Indiana, West Virginia, and Pitt, but he opted to stay relatively local and signed with UCF.
After a quiet true freshman season, he entered the transfer portal in spring 2025 and moved further west, committing to USF in April.
HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON? McCormick didn’t see any playing time and took a redshirt season. Presumably he took lots of notes on how to take UCF down from the inside - good idea!
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025? McCormick is still young and has done a great job bulking up from his high school playing days. I don’t expect a ton of immediate snaps for him in 2025 in a stacked linebacker room, but I really like him as an addition to this unit. Getting a promising prospect in the door who still has four years of eligibility is a big plus in my book.
