**PLAYER:** Keshaun Singleton

**POSITION:** Wide receiver

**YEAR:** Redshirt sophomore

**HEIGHT/WEIGHT:** 6'3", 212 lbs.

**HOW DID HE GET HERE?** A Georgia man, Singleton played his high school ball at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, just outside Atlanta. He was rated as a low three-star prospect, but had a solid offer list that included Mississippi State, Minnesota, and Indiana. He committed to the Bulls on early signing day in 2022.

His true freshman season in 2023 was a quiet one; he battled injuries and didn’t appear in any games.

**HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON?** Excellent and wholly unexpected. When I took stock of the USF receiver room before the 2024 season, I expected that returners like Sean Atkins, Naiem Simmons, Michael Brown-Stephens and Jaden Alexis would lead the way, with transfers like Adbur-Rahmaan Yaseen and Josh Hardeman playing big roles as well. Even among the younger options, I was looking at big-time prospects like JeyQuan Smith and Brandon Winton. I can confidently say that Keshaun Singleton wasn’t on my radar.

But things went sideways: Simmons and Alexis both missed the season with injuries, and Yaseen and Hardeman didn’t click with the team as well as expected. That left a huge playmaking void behind the always-excellent Atkins. That void was eventually filled by Singleton.

You may ask why I’m getting so excited about a player who only put up a statline of 27 catches, 408 yards and three touchdowns. What if I told you it’s because Singleton barely saw any action during the first half of the season, and he put up all of those numbers from the UAB game onward? For the sake of comparison, let’s look at USF’s top receivers in 2024 during the last seven games of the season.

So basically, during the second half of the season, Singleton was clearly USF’s number two receiver and even rivaled Atkins in some areas. He also very much passed the eye test: in contrast to the smaller possession receivers like Atkins and Porter, Singleton was a tall, rangy target able to play along the sideline and make contested catches downfield.

His emergence was a breath of fresh air for a USF passing attack starving for explosive plays. His first college catch was a 67-yard touchdown that gave the Bulls an early lead against UAB, at 0:30 in the video below.

He also took a screen 58 yards for a touchdown in the Tulsa blowout (2:47)…

…made a nice catch in the end zone to give the Bulls life late in the fourth quarter against Rice (7:12)…

…and for an encore, made two massive plays in the Hawaii Bowl: a huge 17-yard reception with 20 seconds to go to set up the game-tying field goal (8:00), and the eventual game-winning two point conversion in the fifth overtime (16:34).

Pretty good season!

**WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025?** You may be able to tell that I have pretty high hopes for Singleton this season. The departure of Sean Atkins leaves a massive hole in the USF receiving corps, and Singleton is probably the only proven option in the room at the moment. USF is going to need a big season from him, and he’s got all the tools to deliver. I should note that his breakout second half came exclusively with Bryce Archie under center, so he’ll need to build a rapport with Byrum Brown, but I still think he’s a written-in-ink day one starter on the outside, and I can’t wait to see a full season of work from him.

P.S. Bryce Archie calls him [“baby Calvin Johnson”](https://gousfbulls.com/news/2025/6/4/usf-footballs-singleton-poised-to-emerge-as-bulls-next-standout-wide-receiver.aspx?ref=bayareaexaminer.com).
