**PLAYER:** Rodney Hill

**POSITION:** Linebacker

**YEAR:** Sophomore

**HEIGHT/WEIGHT:** 5'10", 225 lbs.

**HOW DID HE GET HERE?** Hill began his high school career at Flagler Palm High School, then moved a bit south to finish out at Mainland in Daytona Beach. I don’t usually look at or share high school stat lines, because the varying levels of competition make them pretty much impossible to evaluate, but I can’t let this one go without flagging it: as a senior, Hill played both linebacker and running back and totaled… 103 tackles, 33.5 TFLs, eight sacks, 305 rushing yards, and 12 touchdowns. Wowza! Gadzooks, even!

Understandably, Hill was rated as a high three-star prospect and had offers from some impressive schools like Tennessee, Pitt, and Wake Forest. He ended up committing to Tulane in June 2023, before his senior season, but flipped to USF on early signing day - a huge victory on the trail for the Bulls. He enrolled early in January.

**HOW WAS HIS 2024 SEASON?** It was a good one. Hill played pretty regularly throughout the season, on both defense and special teams. He appeared in all thirteen games, making 18 tackles (0.5 TFLs). His defensive snaps weren’t extensive, but they were consistent; he ended the season seeing the fifth-most snaps of any Bulls linebacker, behind Mac Harris, Jhalyn Shuler, Jamie Pettway, and DJ Gordon.

**WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT IN 2025?** Of those four linebackers who played in front of Hill in 2024, two of them (Pettway and Gordon) have departed. The Bulls do, however, bring in two transfers at linebacker with plenty of starting experience, so the unit is pretty loaded. Nonetheless, I suspect Hill will be in the rotation again and his playing time is only going to rise over time. Between him and Zavier Hamilton, the Bulls have some very promising young linebackers.
